What is the etiquitte for cheek kissing greetings?

Is it just europeans? and one or two pecks?

male female
female female
male male ever?

I’m American and I usually just hug my friends hello and goodbye but I love it when my non American friends kiss my cheek. I totally follow their lead and kiss back. Sometimes they kiss one cheek some, usually men, kiss both. Love it.

I’m not sure about etiquette. I usually just wait and follow their lead ~any combo (male/female, female/female) unless I am familiar with someone and know they greet me with a cheeky kiss. Then I lean in and we do it together. Mwah.

    I’ve seen it all–male/male, male/female

on right or left or both cheeks. Depends on the people
With Marie-Pierre in france it was both cheeks. With my aunt from Brazil it’s one cheek.

In the UK we don’t do it; but I have Dutch family & they kiss on the cheek three times (i.e. left, right & left again); but only woman-to-woman or man-to-woman; men shake hands with each other.

I think the French kiss twice, and again men shake hands with other men.

the Europeans seem to like a dbl cheek kiss (especially the French). Americans usually do a single peck on the cheeks if it’s male / female or female / female.

the exception I’ve seen is the male / male. they seem to like dbl kisses regardless of American or European
