What is the difference between these 2 Emily Post books?

I’m confused as to what the difference is in these two books.

Two different editions/printings

The blue cover one (bottom) was published in 2004; it is the 17 edition, and it is also hardpack and thumb indexed (think dictionary sytle index).

The red cover is paperback published in 2007. I’m not sure the edition for it. It could be (an abridgement of) the original 1922 edition or it could be the 17th edition; however since it doesn’t list an edition, my guess is that it’s the original.

The first one is a shorter paperback and the other is a much longer hardback. Check the Copyright and see which one is more recent maybe one is more updated or maybe the red one (the shorter one) is a condensed version.

I believe the first is the book written by Emily Post, while the second is merely using "Emily Post" as a brand name for an updated version of her book.
