Is this BAD etiqutte at the doctor’s office?

I’m getting blood work results so I would like to bring a notebook so i can take notes while she tells me the results. Is note-taking bad etiquette?

I always bring notes with me, so I don’t forget a question I’d been meaning to ask. People feel nervous, often forget to ask something. Also, it’s good to list symptoms so you are organized, don’t waste valuable time stumbling, trying to remember.

Likewise, I note answers I am given. I do this very briefly, then expand on the answers in the waiting room immediately after I leave the exam room. The only bad etiquette is if you take a lot of time to write a lot of stuff. And I find a sheet of paper looks less formal than a notebook.

So noting a couple of blood results and what they mean is fine. But – I always get a copy of the print out of the results. It’s easier, quicker, more accurate. It’s routine to ask for a copy.

Call the guests by their names (Mr/Mrs/Ms Jones) .. speak clearly and not too rapdily, so they can easily understand you. Say please and thank you, use a pleasant tone of voice. Don’t speak too loudly, or too softly, a normal level is fine. The everyday manners, one should observe, when speaking with anyone on the phone. Any calls to guests, which involve "private" matters should be conducted away from the front area of the desk, so others will not overhear.

Etiquette would be to not make a fool of yourself, and to just respect others. Also, if you drink, don’t ruin it for others. I’m sure you won’t but you don’t know how many people on our ship were acting like idiots, it’s amazing how rude some people can be! Dress code is pretty casual except on formal nights. You can pretty much where what you would to a beach or hotel or resort during the day, they’re pretty relaxed. On the formal nights, just use your judgment, don’t underdress, but don’t overdress either. It is not a prom and not McDonalds lol that’s the quote I went by when I was packing… Wear a nice dress or pantsuit, heels, and you should be fine. I saw a few young girls, like middle or high school, wearing homecoming dresses and others in jeans and heels… Dress somewhere in the middle of that. Anything else, don’t hesitate to ask!

Will my image be ruined if I do not practice etiqutte?

I do not believe in etiquette because:

(a) I do not believe in committing myself to someone, to the extent that I have to greet him with a smile or speak formally.

(b) I prefer to stick to business and I do not trust a person, going by his etiquette.

(c) Until the person knows me well and respects me for that, I see no reason why I shoud show manners.
I forgot to add, I stay in an underdeveloped nation, so I guess I am accustomed to practices of the surrounding, although in circumstances to the contrary, I remain indifferent.

That is a very short-sighted and doomed attitude, love. Showing manners has absolutely nothing to do with living in an underdeveloped or developed country. I am dead sure people in whatever-country-you-are-from show respect and treat each other in a way that is considered respectful…within the village, the county, the community… etc.

So you´re basically saying you don´t greet people with a smile or speak formal to them at all? That´s what you´re saying with a). How do you expect people to get to know you well and respect you then, as you request in c) ?

Why do you think the Japanese have such strict etiqutte for buisness meetings?

It’s pure and simple tradition at this point. Etiquette and "face" mean everything to traditional Japanese. Handed down from feudal times the etiquette is more important that the actual act/deal itself and can actually break a deal if one is considered rude.
