Privacy — Mobile Manners Featuring Gabby & Gertrude

May 18, 2010 - 8:42 am 9 Comments

Do you tech responsibly? Intel Insider iJustine shows some mobile tech pet peeves to go along with a June 2009 Intel survey that showed nine out of 10 U.S. adults feel annoyed by some behaviors they see in public. Driving while texting and loud mobile phone talkers were top complaints, yet, most of didnt think they were culprits.

“We have more and more technology in our lives much of it in our handbags, backpacks, and pockets as well as our homes, offices and even cars. It is hardly surprising that we are still working out what is socially appropriate and what isn’t we are still developing our techno-etiquettes,” said Genevieve Bell, an Intel Fellow and cultural anthropologist who studies technology and culture.

How can be better educate runners on running etiquettes?

May 16, 2010 - 3:16 pm 4 Comments

I just finished San Francisco Marathon, and as usual, I found it annoying to have to run around much slower (and often beginner) runners, many of whom run 2-3 together and blocking the road, thereby making it dangerous for themselves and for other runners. Several times we nearly had tripping, bottlenecking, or even had to run outside the roads to avoid them.
While I agree that staggering helps, this past marathon, as well as the last 4 that I ran, all had staggering start and still had plenty of runners that blocked the road. It is not the time I am worried about – it is the safety of the runners. It also is very tiring to have to zig-zag through a huge part of the race.

Scream on your left, and pass slower runners on or off the race course (even if they are little kids in front of you @ a park) teach all those slow pokes who is boss! hee hee lol

Is this considered bad or good in gift-giving etiquettes?

May 13, 2010 - 7:05 am 1 Comment

I’m giving a tee shirt to my friend for Christmas
There’s a tag attached to the sleeve of the shirt, but it’s kind of dirty and has a few wrinkles on it, and it looks kinda weird, so would it be bad or good if I took off the tag? I’m confused because if I leave it on, it would look unhonorly, but if I take it off, it’ll look worn and unnew. What should I do?

just cut off the messed up parts… that way it’ll look like u cut it off just to remove the price

Do you believe that teaching children etiquettes is important?

May 8, 2010 - 4:02 pm 21 Comments

I think that at least basic ones should be taught. I’m only asking this because as of lately I’ve noticed an increase in disrespectful children in my neighborhood and with some family. I mean they scream back at their parents and yell and hit at adults they don’t know. And their parents don’t really do anything about that. Has things changed since I was little. I thought everyone was taught basic manners.

They certainly should be, I have always made my son say please and thank you to everyone. I have taught him to wait his turn in queues and bus stations. I remind him constantly to talk, not shout, no matter how excited he is (this is not as successful as I hope a lot of the time – he’s five).

I will continue to give him old fashioned morals and hope that it makes him into a better adult than the rabble that some are raising right now.
